ILR has been honored with a number of federal grants and service awards:

2008-2009 One North Carolina Business Program Awardee - North Carolina Board of Science and Technology - Incentive award to continue research and development efforts in North Carolina.

2008 National Institute for Child Health and Human Development Three -Year SBIR Grant to develop and create a multi-media eLearning program for GAL and CASA program volunteers to more effectively represent adolescents in court.

2007 NCFAPA (North Carolina Foster and Adoptive Parent Association) Award to both Nancy Carter and William Griffin for their dedication and commitment to the children and families of North Carolina.

2006 North Carolina Board of Science and Technology - Economic Incentive Award for ILR’s efforts in creating small business ventures in North Carolina.

2006 NILA* Agency of the Year Award presented to Independent Living Resources, Inc., for outstanding commitment and service to youth.

2006 NILA* Founders Award to Nancy A. Carter for individual dedication and commitment to youth.

2005 NILA* Youth of the Year Award to Makeisha Williams for her contributions to SaySo, the NILA Board of Directors,and her commitment to improve educational attainment for older youths in care.

2005 National Institute for Child Health and Human Development Three -Year SBIR Grant SBIR Grant: On Your Way interactive, secure website that guides youths through the process of identifying their strengths, determining career goals, and making life choices while creating a personal profile that will keep their information safe.

2003 NILA* Founders Award presented to William V. Griffin for his dedication and long term commitment to NILA and for years of professional convictions to ensure better programming and healthier policies for older adolescents in care.

2003 NILA* Youth of the Year Award presented to Melinda Medina for her contributions to SaySo and strong perserverance.

2002 NILA* Outstanding Youth of the Year Award presented to De’Von McRavion for his contributions to the NILA Board of Directors, SaySo, and his dedication to improving the lives of older youths in care.

1998 National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health SBIR Three -Year Grant to develop a multi-media curriculum for human service staff on Personal and Workplace Safety called Working Safe/Working Smart.
