For those in need of information on gang identification, history, best practice etc......here are a few helpful weblinks:

Identification/History:

http://www.gangsorus.com/index.html
http://www.njgangfree.org/
http://www.gangwatchers.org/
http://www.knowgangs.com/

Research and Best Practice Sites:

http://ojjdp.ncjrs.org/index.html
http://www.iir.com/nygc/

If you come from a thereapeutic background, you may find a lot of these sites use a different language and they may seem to focus more on supression, but I've found them useful in my pursuit of improved programming in our Transitional Living and Gang Prevention and Intervention programs. There are many more websites, but these are the ones I've found most helpful and the ones I frequent.
